Five Birthday Cake Alternatives
I love birthday parties and I’m not even ashamed to admit it’s mainly due to inhaling cake! In 34 years I’ve never met a cake I haven’t loved, however I know many don’t share the same appreciation for a traditional birthday cake or tend to avoid it due to allergies.
Mumspo Mag have reached out to our clever Party Mums group members on Facebook, and together we have collated 5 alternatives I’m sure you’ll love.
1. Tim Tam Jenga
Amy.S opted for this Tim Tam temptation in place of a wedding cake and it’s glorious! Adorned with ribbon, flowers and a topper and this can be assembled in 15 minutes and minus the exorbitant traditional wedding cake price tag.
2. Slice Stack –
Party Mums member Maria.R and owner of Fancy Bake created this Caramel Slice tower instead of a cake. You could use any firm slice to create a stack like this, add a topper and you’re done!
3. Donut Tower
Party Mums member Sophia.B and owner of Twins And A Blog was heavily pregnant with her twin daughters when she ditched the task of homemade cakes and opted for krispy Kreme donuts instead. Sophia assembled the donuts using melted chocolate and toothpicks, added Batman and sweet toppers and her twin boys gave them a big thumbs up.
4. Watermelon Fruit Cake
Hannah.L made this adorable watermelon cake for her sons first birthday, and despite how simple they are to create the wow factor is definitely up there.
Emily.M made this beautiful cake for her Mothers 60th birthday very mindful her Mum is a diabetic and coeliac. Fresh passionfruit drip and a topper and good to go!
5. Cheese ‘Cake’
Natalie.K put this tower of cheesy goodness together for a wedding and it’s fabulous. The addition of fresh flowers, figs and the sweet little mice on top is utterly adorable. This would be brilliant if the birthday boy or girl doesn’t have a sweet tooth and prefers savoury.
