Cake 2 The Rescue – GIVEAWAY!
My beautiful daughter Miss A is turning 11 which is exciting, however the thought of baking and decorating a cake for her is incredibly daunting as my baking and decorating skills are rather non existent. I don’t bake as I don’t enjoy it, I don’t even own a cake tin that’s how bad I am, and to say I’m envious of mothers who can whip together cakes so perfect they could be judged at The Royal Easter Show is an understatement.
Miss Martha bake-a-lot green eyes aside, and to add salt to the wound (pun intended as I once used salt instead of sugar in a butter cake but that’s a story for another day) Miss tween didn’t even know what cake she wanted.
I know many of you are probably thinking ‘just order one from a professional cake decorator’, but this isn’t applicable to our family or our budget. I grew up with homemade cakes every year and it’s a tradition I strive to carry on with my kiddos, disaster on a board or not.
Insert all the halleluiah emojis once I stumbled across Cake 2 The Rescue and their extensive range of do it yourself cake kits. I can’t even begin to describe my elation that such a clever brand exists, it’s incredibly budget friendly and I love I don’t need to purchase tools i’ll only ever use once as everything is included.
Navigating my way through the Cake 2 The Rescue website was a breeze and there were so many cake options to choose from, it couldn’t be easier to find the perfect cake as everything is categorised. Miss A and I selected the tweens and teens category and from there she chose the Llama Kit because they are ‘super cool’ at the moment apparently! I also selected the gluten free option so my whole family could enjoy the cake as my eldest is gluten and dairy free.
The postage time was remarkably quick and I was provided postage tracking details along the way so I knew when it would be arriving.
Upon opening the box, not only was it carefully packaged but every single item I would need to create Miss A’s birthday cake was included. There were even step–by-step instructions on how to make the cake completely gluten and dairy free. So easy!
The disposable baking tray was easy to handle and using the cake template stencil made cutting out the Llama shape a breeze.
Decorating the cake and WOW! –I have never used fondant before, but the instructions provided were so simple and easy to understand that even a fondant first-timer like me could create a ‘super cool’ Llama cake that could satisfy even the fussiest of tweens.
Now, the finished product. I have to say I COMPLETLY surprised myself. Not only did it look almost identical to the photo on the website, the cake was delicious and I may have gone back for seconds. I’m so pleased to report I was fist pumping like a boss that this cake not only resembled a llama but is too good to even appear on a pinterest ‘nailed it’ meme.
I would definitely recommend Cake 2 The Rescue to both amateur, novice and experienced bakers for convenience. I’ll never be Martha Stewart but this made me feel like I was winning as a Mum as I was so proud to carry this cake out to my family. I’ll never buy a cake tin but already working out which DIY cake kit I’ll be ordering next.
We are so happy to be partnering up with Cake 2 The Rescue to give 3 of our lucky readers their own DIY Cake Kit! Enter below to be in the running:Rewards Fuel social media contests
