Cookie in a jar mix – Recipe & Free Printables
Cookie in a jar mixes make brilliant Christmas gifts and I adore the practicality of them. They are ideal to gift to family and friends, teachers and classmates, and make a sweet little addition to a Christmas eve box so they kids can bake the cookies and leave them out for Santa.
Mumspo Mag are here to help make your Christmas nice and easy and we have free printables for the jars and a recipe too. There’s both a Santa and reindeer sticker, a sticker with instructions for the back and you can use the plain varieties as swing tags or bottle stickers.
These gifts are budget friendly and this recipe is designed to be used with Kmart Candy bottles. The candy bottles are kid friendly as they are plastic and the pack of 4 will only set you back $3 and you can view them here.
We printed stickers at Officeworks for $1.05 per sheet. Simply cut out the tags and adhere to the bottles and if you wish to use the plain tags as swing tags simply stick to a sheet of cardstock, cut around and add a holepunch and tie to the top of the bottle with ribbon or twine.
Here’s what you’ll need to add to each jar and to make life easy I highly recommend using a small funnel.
Makes 6 large cookies
To each jar in this order add –
3/4 cup of Plain flour
1/4 teaspoon of bi-carb
1/3 cup of brown sugar
1/4 cup of white sugar
1/4 cup of red and green M&m’s
Your recipient just needs to add 1 egg, 75g soft butter and 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract, mix to combine and bake at 180c for 10-12 minutes. All instructions are printed on the bag bottle label.
You can leave the bottles plain or add a circle of fabric to the top and tie off with ribbon or twine.
Here they are with the swing tags.
